It's been awhile since we last updated the blog. Lots of things going on in our house and out in the world have kept these fingers busy.

Last weekend we had our big housewarming BBQ. We had rain mid-afternoon so I cancelled the event for friends but a lot of people still came. I'm certainly glad we had the numbers we did because otherwise we'd still be eating hamburgers today. We provided hot dogs and home made hamburgers, chips, pop and some salad. Mostly everyone who came brought either a side or a dessert and it all seemed to work out pretty good. For some reason though neither Chris nor I thought enough to take our the camera! So no pics from our big event.

Chris has been running himself ragged with work and "home obligations" like work that needs to be done around the house. A quick once over before moving in wasn't enough to give us insight into all the work that needs to be done. Our landlord is also incredibly "hands off"; we haven't seen him since we moved in and he is spotty at best when it comes to phone conversations. Our electrical is buggy and needs to be looked at and our windows need fixing etc etc. The list goes on and on. We realize this is a rental but the stuff needs to get done. If we wait on the landlord we will be waiting forever. So Chris has shouldered the burden and is working after his 8 hour day on our place that we don't own.

There has been a recent media event that has somewhat shaken me (not Chris, as he has no political affiliations). The recent passing of Jack Layton has me worried about the state of our country on the whole, but of Quebec to be specific. I don't make it a point to discuss my political views on our family blog, but I thought that with a democratic government running Quebec that this might not be such a bad place to raise our daughter (and any possible future kids). We haven't really discussed it but I don't want to move into Ontario with Cadence for very personal reasons. But now we may have no choice.

Speaking of Cadence, I recently did inventory of all her clothing and started swapping out summery short sleeved outfits for more fall/winter appropriate items with long sleeves or which are warmer. We also have a snow suit as well as winter boots for her for the season. Right now they are all too big but she will grow into and then out of them soon enough.

Right now we are getting ready for dinner and relaxing. No pics this time around, no time! Enjoy your weekends everyone!
