I, myself, don't really notice the long weekend too much due to the fact that, duh, I'm home all the time anyways. But I do notice, and super appreciate, when Chris is home and let's me sleep in. Seriously, after 5am he takes over daddy duties and will get up with Cadence and I can sleep until whenever! Sometimes that means 11am. Once it was noon. But usually that means 9am. And lord knows I love our daughter but I love sleep too and it's so awesome to be able to sleep for those extra golden hours.
This weekend, while awesome for sleeping in, has been jam packed! Chris took a few hours and cleared the back yard and path down into the garden. He is now suffering from an incredibly sore back. Poor guy :( I got pizza for dinner so we could just relax. I also got him some Dairy Queen as a token of my appreciation.
We went to the cottage yesterday for dinner with the family. It was such a nice day, I took Cadence swimming and Papa joined us for a quick dip. She seemed to like the water, the sun not so much but there wasn't much we could do about that. Then she spent the rest of the afternoon being passed around between various family members. She was pretty good, and pretty cute! Not unusual for our lil angel girl.
I spent a good two hours this morning vacuuming all kinds of nooks and crannies around the house. Its making me crazy that we are dragging dirt in from outside and from the basement so I'm sweeping the floor like every second day. Oh and I have to wear slippers to keep my feet clean! Booo!
One of my favourite things to do when I have some down time is browse Amazon.ca. I usually look for books. I made a wishlist of books I'd like to buy (not all at once, and not necessarily from amazon but just to keep track of the books in one convenient place, you know? Anyways this is my wishlist. I'm not looking for anyone to buy me stuff, I am hoping that someone will look at the list and offer suggestions to other books I might enjoy. Any feed back in appreciated!
Anyways, time for bed. Lots to do tomorrow while Chris is home, including the wading pool and more lawn care. Nighty night!
Heya! Love the pics. I looked at the wishlist and you should look up Sandra Boynton, she's got great books, and they often sell in box sets. Dante absolutely loves them, even now that he's older. Personal Penguin, Barnyard Dance, Little Pookie series, Doggies - these are some we have and are really fun to read. The First 100 series books are big, fun, sturdy too, great pictures. If you come across any touch-and-feel books, those are fantastic, as well the Little Taggies books, we have Hey Diddle Diddle and Iliana uses it already. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is a fun book, and any Robert Munsch books are great to get for when she's about 2 and older. You're on the right track with the Brown Bear book, that author has some other great books too, like Hungry Caterpillar, and you can't go wrong with Dr. Seuss... If I think of any others I'll let you know, it sucks 'cause I just packed up most of the books we have, only left a few out so I'm trying to remember the good ones :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Tiffany! All of those books sound like books I've looked at but ended up passing up for more popular titles. I added the Brown Bear book so I'd be able to search for that author again and pick up a slew of his titles, his books are gorgeous as well as fun to read. I look forward to being able to share these stories with Cadence and any babies that may come our way in the future.
