Yay for the long weekend!

I, myself, don't really notice the long weekend too much due to the fact that, duh, I'm home all the time anyways. But I do notice, and super appreciate, when Chris is home and let's me sleep in. Seriously, after 5am he takes over daddy duties and will get up with Cadence and I can sleep until whenever! Sometimes that means 11am. Once it was noon. But usually that means 9am. And lord knows I love our daughter but I love sleep too and it's so awesome to be able to sleep for those extra golden hours.

This weekend, while awesome for sleeping in, has been jam packed! Chris took a few hours and cleared the back yard and path down into the garden. He is now suffering from an incredibly sore back. Poor guy :( I got pizza for dinner so we could just relax. I also got him some Dairy Queen as a token of my appreciation.

We went to the cottage yesterday for dinner with the family. It was such a nice day, I took Cadence swimming and Papa joined us for a quick dip. She seemed to like the water, the sun not so much but there wasn't much we could do about that. Then she spent the rest of the afternoon being passed around between various family members. She was pretty good, and pretty cute! Not unusual for our lil angel girl.

I spent a good two hours this morning vacuuming all kinds of nooks and crannies around the house. Its making me crazy that we are dragging dirt in from outside and from the basement so I'm sweeping the floor like every second day. Oh and I have to wear slippers to keep my feet clean! Booo!

One of my favourite things to do when I have some down time is browse Amazon.ca. I usually look for books. I made a wishlist of books I'd like to buy (not all at once, and not necessarily from amazon but just to keep track of the books in one convenient place, you know? Anyways this is my wishlist. I'm not looking for anyone to buy me stuff, I am hoping that someone will look at the list and offer suggestions to other books I might enjoy. Any feed back in appreciated!

Anyways, time for bed. Lots to do tomorrow while Chris is home, including the wading pool and more lawn care. Nighty night!

First post from the new place!

Last week was a preparation for the big move. Chris and his parents came over last weekend and helped to paint and clean the house. They painted the dining room, master bedroom and nursery. Chris and I came back and finished during the week. We also started to move stuff over on Tuesday. Finally on Sunday was the BIG move, and we got everything all moved in the early afternoon. Then came all the unpacking.

So far we are about 75% unpacked. There are small things that need to get put together like the TV stand and certain elements of the kitchen. Otherwise the house in functional. Now comes the immense job of clearing the yard, cleaning the basement and fixing the kitchen and bathrooms.

Chris has been super busy with work. He has been receiving bids left, right and center and we're trying to figure out a feasible schedule. Its not a bad thing but it's funny how everything comes at the end of the summer, and then things get spotty during the winter. Oh well.

Things with the baby are going really well. We got an appointment finally with the eye doctor, its in November but at least we have one. She is doing super good at holding her head up and can even sit up on her own for like 1-2 seconds before gravity takes over and she flops to the side. I also had a chance to take her to the local wading pool and she really liked it. I think Cadence will just love water and swimming when she gets bigger. She has also taken to trying to suck on her fists. Not sure what thats about but she will knock her soother out and shove her fist right in!

I went shopping a bit today, our favourite baby store had a huge summer clothing sale with everything priced at a dollar so I went with $20 and really cleaned up! I ended up with some brand name dresses, one cute bathing suit, a house coat and a sweat suit which will fit her this winter.

This weekend we have a family BBQ at the cottage. We're going up for the day, it should be a nice time. I will finally be able to take Cadence in the lake!

Anyways, no time to dally. Still lots to do and since Chris is home there are twice as many hands around to get the work done. Time to get to it! Enjoy the long weekend everyone!
So exciting! I think every post from now until after the move will include those words. Chris went and picked up the paint for our new place today. We're doing a chocolate feature wall in the bedroom with cream on the other walls, keeping with the same green in the nursery, a dusky lilac for the dining room and a bright sky blue for the bathroom. I'd also like to update the light fixture in the bathroom as there is hardly any light.

Chris will hopefully be going over to paint this weekend, getting as much done before and then after his family's BBQ on Saturday. It seems like this month there was a BBQ every weekend.

Cadence has her first set of shots coming up this week. I hear all kinds of horror stories about the kid getting sick or howling all night and day afterwards. I really hope thats not the case as she has been almost an angel for the last 2 weeks and I'm really enjoying it!

Anyways, I have a long night/day of cleaning, showing the apartment and making calls to change my address. Yawn :( Good night!

Busy weekend!

Since we found out on Friday that we got the house things here have been pretty busy. Chris brought home some boxes that Jane had saved for us and I started packing. So far I have most of Cadence's kitchen-related stuff packed and a lot of her stuff from her nursery. I am hustling to get her all packed up by mid week. Then its our room. We're hoping to be able to move in a few days before the first so that we can get this place empty and have the next tenant move in. Fingers crossed!

We went garage sailing today, saw some stuff that I wanted to buy but Chris said no. We had a nice time though just driving around. Cadence looked so cute I had to take a picture.

Today we had a major breakthrough with Cadence and her aversion to her toys. She never seems to want to grasp them or reach out for them. Well, I helped her hold her toy and she kept trying to put it in her mouth. So I helped her with that too, and she started chewing! She did this for about 30 minutes and then started crying for food.

That's all I really wanted to say. Enjoy the pics and video!

Mini update!

I have been working to try to spice up the design of the blog and I was getting pretty frustrated. For some reason, Google chrome won't display the settings the way I want them to show up. So, if you are looking at the blog while using Google chrome to browse, you won't see all the features.

But if you are using Safari or Internet Explorer, you will be able to see all the changed and add-ons I made. For example, in the search bar you can type in any word and it will list all the blog entries I've made with that word. Also, if I have linked to another website, the website will show up in your search. Neat! And I have a list of back dated blog entries.

So you can see I have way too much time on my hands! If anyone has any suggestions on how to entertain myself please let me know!

Big exciting news!

So much going on its insane and I might not have the chance to blog again in the near future.

First, baby news. Cadence is scooting and rolled over for the first time! She rolled from her back to her front in a fit of angry baby rage! She had a little assistance from me, but I didn't push I just supported her. And she's been scooting for a few weeks now. Still not awesome at head control or sitting up on her own, but she will grip my fingers pretty tight to keep herself seated upright! Smartest baby ever!

Secondly, work news. Chris has been booking jobs left, right and center. Good thing he hired that new girl! Oh, in case I didn't mention, Chris hired a helper. She is apparently doing really well. Chris is doing a bathroom/powder room combo, finishing that basement and then roof time! Yay!

And for the piece de resistance! WE GOT THE HOUSE! WE'RE MOVING! We go on Monday to finalise the lease and talk about move dates etc. I'm posting some pics of the interior so everyone can see what it will look like.

Right now I'm off to bed. Baby has been in bed for awhile and if I want to catch some zzzz'z I gotta hit the hay! Good night!
