Wowza! Its been a long time. I'm wondering if I should continue to post here haha its so infrequent!
Ok so to recap, Halloween passed us with no real event. The plan was to decorate our neighbours house and maybe give out candy but it was way too cold and there weren't many kids out. Plus, we didn't buy any candy so that didn't really work out. It was nice to have the night off from work though.
It was my birthday last week and I am happy to say it turned out to be very nice. I had a bit of a princess moment when I felt like Chris wasn't going to do anything special but then he did, he actually bought me flowers! And he came to a sushi restaurant with a friend of mine. I got some very nice presents, some hot coco, a book, some candy, some nice cards, a video game and a neat travel mug. It was nice.
Work has been up and down and it is draining the life from me. In October I had less than 190 hours, where as in November they had me working 210 hours. Now in December they are trying to cut back on overtime hours so I have 146 hours this month. I dislike the inconsistencies but I think I will enjoy all the down time this month. Granted, all the things I could do during the days that I'm off will likely be closed due to the holidays but still.
Chris has been doing pretty well with work, getting contracts set up and keeping busy. He was off for a few days around my birthday in November. It was nice having him home the first few days but that got old really fast. He doesn't like to let me sleep in! Lately hes been doing work with our neighbour which has been nice. The neighbour (Jon) has his own reno company so when Chris has down time hopefully Jon can hook him up.
The dogs are doing really well, all happy and healthy. They do have a very strong smell which is unpleasant. Even with a bath they stink. Its frustrating. Roxy is losing big clumps of hair all over the house which is making it a longer cleaning process. Paul's nails are too long and are making snags in the couch. We just got the couch like 3 months ago and it looks terrible. Oscar is being a jerk, getting growly and snippy. I think he feels overwhelmed with all the other dogs in the house. And Emma, well shes wonderful. Stinky, but very sweet.
Anyways, time to get back to the movies. Its almost bed time anyway. Enjoy my pictures!
Habs and Thanksgiving
Oh man! I totally thought I had written something up about the hockey game I went to with Chris and his parents but I totally didn't! Oops!
A few weeks ago Chris's parents invited Chris and I to go to a pre-season hockey game with the Ottawa Senators playing against the Montreal Canadiens. Of course I said yes, I had never been to a hockey game (that I can remember) and Chris's parents are nice people so all in all it was to be a great night. I wasn't disappointed! There were fights, shoot outs, penalties, big screen camera fun and the wave. Super fun! And even though the Habs didn't win it was still a great time.
Some other news is that Chris and I are in temporary care of a small and extremely adorable dachshund. Her previous owner is a girl I went to high school with and who now has two kids. Apparently Emma (the new dog)snapped in the face of Brittni's toddler and had to go. My understanding was that Brittni was waiting to hear back from a dachshund rescue out in Kemptville or something and that if she didn't hear back quick enough the dog was to go to the SPCA. Well, I contacted her and told her I could take her dog for a little bit just so Emma wouldn't have to go to the shelter. I misunderstood what Brittni was saying cause now when I contacted her to ask about what was going on with the rescue she said that it was either I take the dog or it go to the SPCA and the rescue had never really been an option. Looks like I'm a sucker.
Anyways, now we have 4 dogs and a cat. Make no mistake about it, this 4th dog will not be staying we are trying very hard to find a new forever hoe for her but its hard because of her previous living situation and attitude she needs a very specific home to go into.
This weekend is Thanksgiving weekend which would be awesome except I am working. Chris has two family dinners to go to and I will do my best to attend both. I look forward to spending time with his family they are all such nice people. And then I have Monday off for which I am thankful! I am also thankful for Chris and our wonderful fur baby family.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend too!
Hello everyone!
Its been a busy and chilly last couple of weeks. Chris is busy busy busy at work, doing a kitchen and brick on a fire place. Really great stuff.
Some new things happening at the house. For one, I got a haircut. Chris seems to think it looks pretty good so that makes me happy. Second, I bought the dogs their Halloween costumes for this year. Again, really cute and Chris likes them too. Third, well...I joined a roller derby league and bought my first pair of skates. I'm very excited I'm hoping to be on the fundraising committee as well so if you know anyone who wants to throw some money at a not for profit organization do not hesitate to contact me!
I booked my ticket to Houston for my birthday. Next is the hostel. I think I've got it all figured out though, I'm very excited!
As per usual, check out these pics!
Hey all!
What a boring labour day! Woke up late, did nothing around the house, went to hang out with a friend for an hour or so and then spent the rest of the day lazing around the house some more. Chris didn't do much more either. Went to price a roof and then worked on his ads and facebook stuff for work. Very quiet indeed.
Last weekend I took Oscar to the gay pride parade that was going on in Ottawa. He seemed to have an alright time but the walk was long and I got some mega blisters. I went home and passed out until Chris's parents came over for dinner. Mmmm whipped cream dessert. Then I went out with my friend to Zaphod's for trailer park bingo. Good times all around.
Work went well and then is now not so well for me. I wasn't demoted but am back working overnight shifts and am super down about it. I was really enjoying working day shifts. Oh well, two steps forward and one step back is the saying right? Fingers crossed that its a temporary thing.
The dogs are doing alright as well. Roxy's lip has gone back to normal which is good. Paul, however, has been poking his head through the baby gate when we are gone and his nose is all bloody and shredded. We switched the gate for one with smaller holes in it so hopefully it works out.
Hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend and a pleasant week. Good night!
It would seem that there is just not enough time in the day to update the old family blog. But here we are!
In the last month or so there are a lot of changes that have occurred. First off, we got a new couch AND a new fridge! The fridge was very important as our old fridge, the one we bought off the previous tenant here was leaking and really not working very well. So, Chris bought one from the Home Depot. Its very nice, so far working out very well. The new couch was just something I requested. I thought our old couch had a smell and was not comfortable so we went to the Brick and bought a new couch. I've added pictures so everyone can see.
Work continues to pick up for both of us. Chris has been working under a guy he used to work with at 20/20 and he seems to be enjoying himself. He's having some issues with his truck right now that are frustrating but hopefully will work themselves out. Trucks = very expensive but necessary for renovation work. I was recently promoted at work which means a wage increase plus benefits! Yay! Oh, and hardly any overnight shifts. The biggest downside is now I don't have a choice in my availability. So, if I need time off I need to switch with another full time person.
The dogs continue to do well. Roxy and Oscar have been fighting all the time. Its very annoying, especially when I'm trying to sleep! Paul recently fell down the stairs and banged his chin so there is a big scab on his chin and a little scuff on his chest. I accidentally dropped Roxy on her head while out at the beach so she has a fat lip. Oscar is the only one to remain unscathed. So far.
And after a long hiatus...
Wow! Its been almost 2 months since my last post. Thats not to say that time stood still over here, quite the opposite actually. Things especially recently have been super hectic trying to manage work, and Bluesfeset plus all the normal rigors has been difficult to say the least. I'm very excited to have all of next week off which means I will be hitting the cottage, hopefully with Chris.
So in the last two months.. Hmmm... what did we do? Well there was that one family BBQ that we hosted that went pretty well. Other than the failed layered mousse I attempted but still. I tried! Chris has been keeping busy doing basements and bathrooms and kitchens, oh my! Right now he is working on a reno for a restaurant. Hopefully he can get some pics and put that in his portfolio.
Took some time off next month at the start of the month. Hopefully we will get down to Toronto to visit some of Chris's friends and maybe his brother. Or we will go to Montreal, who knows. I personally would like to go to Quebec City, I think that would be a neat trip.
Anyways here are some fun pics from the last two months. Hope everyone has been doing well and keeping their noses clean!
Wow what a nice weekend! And finally I'm off so I can enjoy it a bit. Well, not too much seeing as how I need to be resting and such but still I can sit out for a bit, and let Chris do all the work that needs to get done!
Things around here have been very hectic, but thats not a bad thing. We've been getting ready for our big family bbq tomorrow but it looks like it might just be Chris's parents and ourselves. My mom is in Montreal visiting my brother as well as my grandmother who is in the hospital following a heart attack she had recently. And well my dad is a no show but we already knew that. Thanks dad!
Work has been pretty good, I've been picking up some hours here and there and so far I'm really enjoying it. I've been working more daytime hours which is really great and I think I'm doing a pretty good job. At least, no one has said anything to me otherwise so I take that as a positive thing.
Chris is busy, busy, busy with work. He is enjoying it though, even with this terrible heat we've been having. Today he is out on the boat, doing some fishing. He just bought a new rod and reel from Le Baron's yesterday so hopefully he is enjoying them today. Maybe his dad is there too, who knows!
Plans for today are just to tidy up, get some last minute groceries and maybe see a movie. Basically just relaxing as much as possible. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far!
Happy May long weekend! Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend and a productive one at that!
Chris is currently at his family cottage redoing the roof, it is a big family effort with most of his whole family out there helping out so hopefully he finishes that and can come home tomorrow. Work wise we are both kicking it up a notch with lots of working, and the two dogs left behind are sad sad babies I tell you that. My mom stayed over last night in order to snuggle and spend time with the babies. Thanks Mom!
I've worked all weekend, last night, tonight and then a double tomorrow. I've been all over the city and its killing me. I am starting to hate driving! Then tomorrow night after work I'm headed to Montreal to spend some time with my mom and maybe my brother depending if my slave driver dad lets him have time off. We'll see!
I went out and spent a fortune on safe sun products like sunscreen, face cream with sunblock and lidocane burn cream lol. Last weekend Chris and I had a little...boating misfortune and I had quite the burn so now I will never be without sunscreen again. Heck no to cancer I say!
Anyways, time to shower and then head off to work. Have a happy safe weekend!
We bought a patio set!
Yay!
The set itself seats 4, plus we have a picnic table in the back which seats like 6 so bbq's at our place are going to rock! The umbrella is black and the cushions are
beige, we are so ultra modern lol.
With that I would like to remind everyone who was invited that the BBQ is still Sunday, May 30th at around 4pm. Hope to see you all there!
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!
An exciting time for everyone, moms especially! Today is the one day a year that we celebrate our mothers. I won't even get in to how wrong this day is on so many levels. If you celebrate the day then congrats to you.
We have been having some crazy weather here lately. On my way in to work last night there was heavy snow! Imagine, May 8th and I had to drive slowly due to a snow storm. If thats not a sign of global warming I don't know what else you need to see.
Chris went to his parents this evening for a Mothers Day bbq, I stayed home and slept like Rip Van Winkle. I am really looking forward to sleeping all day tomorrow and then heading up to the cottage for a little rest and relaxation. It will be nice to be able to sleep there overnight at the same time as other people. I'm really looking forward to it.
Chris is going to be redoing a basement while I try to rest up for a hectic work week.
Hope everyone had a great weekend and a wonderful Mothers Day!
Hey ye'all! Welcome back to the blog!
I haven't updated in awhile because things again are hectic. You'd think with all my spare time (haha) that I'd have maybe like 10 mins to shoot out a quick hey how ya doin' but time flies when there is not a lot going around!
Things at my job are going well, I've worked almost 200 hours this month so my paycheck next month should be pretty awesome. But, I owe on my tax returns so bye bye sweet new tattoo, trip to Florida or whatever else I wanted to buy with that money. I'm going to be broke once more as soon as the check clears. Does anyone else have this problem?
Chris bought a boat the other day. It was quite the ordeal, let me tell you! Initially we went out to the Kingston area to look into a boat that was listed online and it was perhaps the scariest thing I had ever seen in my life. There were probably about 10 boats and 6 old rusty cars just placed around this giant property that didn't have a real driveway. When we pulled up to the house there were 2 adults and 2 kids outside. During the course of our 20 minute stay about 10 adults in total came out of the house. It was the craziest thing I'd ever experience.
Then we drove out just past Rockland and Chris seemed to like the boat he saw there so we came home with the Red Rocket (thats the boats name). I personally am very excited to take this baby up to the cottage, put the little life jackets on the dogs and take this neat water tube out that Bob (Chris's dad) managed to snag. We are all set for a super fun summer of awesomeness! Chris went today and registered the boat, now all we have to do is bring it to the water.
We were supposed to go to the cottage this weekend, Chris to fix the roof and me to get in the way but alas that was cancelled due to stupid rain. I'm still pushing so that maybe Chris can get in and fix the boat launch, and then the dogs and I can go swimming! I'm excited to see how Roxy handles herself in the water. She is sitting next to me right now, cuddling like Paul would. Her attitude and behaviour is always changing, you never really know quite where you stand with her and I think its funny and I find her adorable.
As always, here are some pics. Enjoy this manic weather if you can.
