Things so far with Cadence are going really well. She has gained back all of the weight lost since birth and then gained more weight. She's really good about letting us know when she is hungry and also when she needs more food. She's sleeping almost through the night which is amazing. We have a great baby, what can I say?

Chris has been home the last little while, waiting for some work to be finished up at the job he is working at. It's been super nice having him there for the 7am feedings so I can catch some consecutive hours of sleep, plus he is bonding with our little girl so much. On a funny note, I tried to get her to grip his beard. So far no luck but I will keep trying!

Things for me have been pretty good too. Chris's mom came to help out a couple of days once we came home. It was nice to have the extra help for sure, although it doesn't look like anyone was here at this point ha ha. I've been keeping busy, taking Cadence out as much as possible, going shopping (well, going to stores, not necessarily buying anything) and meeting up with friends for social time. She just sleeps through it all, or makes silly faces and then throws up on me. I'm down almost 25lbs since giving birth, it might be more but I didn't get a chance to weigh myself before going into labour so I don't know the exact numbers yet. Same as I don't know how much weight I gained before I got pregnant since I didn't weigh myself right when I found out I was pregnant. To be comfortable in my own body again I have 70lbs to lose. Sounds like a lot but I've done it before.

In the next coming weeks there isn't too much going on. Chris and I might head up to Montreal so my family can meet the baby. I've sent out picture emails but its just not the same as seeing her little faces live in action. We don't have any doctor appointments until after Father's Day, which is nice. At our last appointment I got the green light to take Cadence swimming which is great because I love to go and I'm sure she will enjoy the little dunks. I picked up a cute little cherry one piece bathing suit that I plan to put over her swim diaper when we go. I just need to confirm with the pool first that babies as young as Cadence can go.

So for now I plan to go back to bed. Here are some new pics of Cadence to tide everyone over :)

Big and exciting news!

A few days after our last post I ended up giving birth to our baby!

I was out for ice cream with a friend when my water broke. I called the hospital and they said to come in. That was on Monday the 9th. They induced me early Tuesday morning, and then come Tuesday afternoon Cadence Olivia King-Lackey was here! I was very lucky my labour was relatively short and I had lots of medication to control pain. Even though Cadence was almost 4 weeks early, she was given a clean bill of health and we went to the ward to settle for a bit.

Unfortunately, there were some complications and Cadence was having issues with feeding and then she had a pretty bad case of jaundice. We were in hospital until Saturday afternoon, at that point we both practically ran out of the hospital we were so excited to be home.

Since being home things have been going really well. The dogs at first were so excited to see her, Paul especially. She's been eating so much and sleeping really well, we are very lucky so far.

We've got a busy week coming up with appointments and getting into a routine. Should be an exciting time! And, as per usual, here are some pics!

Happy 2nd birthday!

Today is a very special girls birthday! Roxy! She turns 2 today.

So far we've spent the day snuggling, laying around the house, running around the yard and then to finish the night off: a nice cone from Dairy Queen that she shared with her brothers and sister.

Happy birthday big girl!
