Hey everyone!
I was going to make a post earlier today about what a crappy day I was having with work and some stress but then a nice surprise when I got home helped turn things around.
I called the store that had the crib that we had looked at to see what was going on with it. I was told they had some in stock but none set aside for Chris's mom. So I called Chris and asked him to call his mom to see what was going on.
I get home and Chris calls me into the nursery. I go in, and tada! Crib is set up! Along with a mattress, mattress pad, sheet and new blanket. What a great surprise! Here are some photos.
We're just a little pressed for time, so more of an update later on.
100 days!
According to my pregnancy ticker we are 100 days away from the birth of mini me. Should be good times! I went shopping today, I had hoped to just look around and find some good deals on baby stuff because I got some emails from Old Navy and some other places so I went to check it out. Well, I went to Bayshore (our local mall) and went into Old Navy, Children's Place, Gymboree and Mrs. Tiggywinkles. I spent WAY more than I had at all anticipated but I feel like I got some really great deals on the stuff that I came home with. Our little girl is going to be smartly dressed.
Also, on the way home I stopped at Boomerang in Westboro (an up-scale neighbourhood not far from where we live) and bought another bag full of clothes and accessories. I think I spent $50 there but I came away with a bulging shopping bag. It was pretty awesome.
So, to recap, today I bought like 6 dresses, a bathing suit, a pacifier, 6 outfits (like shorts/tops) a stroller toy, a stuffed animal for the crib, and a bear that will (hopefully) share the same birthday as our little bean. Good times!
I've gathered photos of all the items we have purchased so far and placed them in an online album which will be posted here and linked over on the right. That way, if anyone would like to get the baby a gift they can see what we already have and go from there. Sucks that a lot of my family don't have regular access to the internet but I know a lot of family who does so it will make it easier if anyone is interested. To see our pictures you can either click the link below or click on the ultrasound picture over on the right!
Link is here for pics of our baby stuff!
I'm working tonight, trying to make some extra money before money gets super tight. Chris has also been working, will be finishing sometime next week and has a meeting on Thursday for a bathroom job.
Oh, and here are some pics of the dogs new "haircuts". Oscar was easy to shave on top, but when it came time to do his tummy he wiggled too much so I just left it alone. Roxy's hair is too thick and couldn't be shaved using Chris's clippers so I ended up cutting her hair with scissors. Please excuse the uglyness.
Hey everyone!
Hope you are all enjoying your day off, I know we certainly are. Chris took a half day and the weather is not too bad so we might go to Gatineau Park and go for a hike with the dogs!
Just a little side note: I've redesigned and updated this blog a little (if you can't already tell). I showed Chris my changes and he seemed confused by the pictures of the dogs on the right side of the page. If you click the pictures, they are like hot links to other websites. Chris thought there would be additional photos of the dogs. So I changed it again. Now if you click on the photo of one of the dogs it will bring you to an article written about each dog on Ottawa Dog Blog. Except for Emma, I didn't think she would be with us for very long so I didn't include her in my original submissions.
Also, when you see words written in red, those are links you can click that will bring you to whatever the word describes. For example, in this entry the words Ottawa Dog Blog are red, so if you click them it will bring you to the Ottawa Dog Blog. Neat eh?
Anyways, I'm also going to try to shave Roxy while Chris is out running errands so I have to get started. Enjoy the day!

Lots of good news to report on today. Hopefully I don't rant too much.
First off, Chris and his dad painted the nursery. It looks pretty fresh and nice, I wasn't sold initially on the colour cause I liked the last colour but its grown on me and I like it now. It looks really nice with all the furniture in there. Well, almost everything. The crib is still missing, I can't wait to put it in there and see what it all looks like! The painting was done very quickly, and Chris's mom came along and cleaned up the place. After they took us out for lunch. Geez we are spoiled eh? Thanks guys!
Secondly, Chris is back to work. He's been helping our neighbour with some projects he needed a hand with and so far Chris is really enjoying it. One of the homeowners has a son and knows that Chris is expecting a baby so she has offered us some furniture pieces as well as made us a casserole one night. Very sweet! It's been a bit of a relief as well because I've taken a cut in hours at work so I was getting nervous.
Regarding little Miss Lackey, everything seems to be going fine. We had an appointment not too long ago and were told everything seems to be smooth sailing. We have our pre-natal classes on March 19th and 20th to teach us all about all the stuff we need to know about becoming moms and dads. Then we are waiting to hear back from the birthing center so we can go in and talk about a birth plan. Our OB seemed pretty dismissive about the whole thing, saying birth plans are essentially all the same (I want easy, pain free, etc). Needless to say, I am not his biggest fan. Oh, and I got a short video of her giving a little kick.Exciting stuff!
Valentine's day was recently as well. Chris's parents surprised me with a card, some chocolate and the best present EVER. My Snoogle!I swear I've had more luck sleeping through the night with the pillow than I have in WEEKS. I'm not sorry to say we didn't do anything special. Chris stayed home with the dogs while I went out with a friend and had some "mom talk" with her mom. It was good to talk to someone who had been through the experience I am currently going through, even though a lot of what she experienced I can't relate to as she had complications and I haven't had any yet (fingers crossed it stays that way). I also got to talk a bit about the baby shower with my friend who is planning it, I am very excited to see who ends up going and how everything will look etc.
Anyways, thats about all the news for now. I am including pics of the nursery as well as some other little fun things. Hope everyone has had a chance to enjoy this wonderful weather!
